Just a Small Update

Apr 3, 2023

No major changes to the site recently.  I was hoping to have the first release of the 'custom search' feature done over the weekend, but sometimes life just gets in the way.  I'm shooting to have the interface done during the week, then finish up the backend piece over the weekend and hopefully have it ready for its first release.  I'm expecting this will be a little rough around the edges at first... I'm definitely taking a "done is better than perfect" approach just to get something usable available on the site.  Then I will continue to refine it over time.  The first release will probably be pretty useful for people who are knowledgable about the different options, but more of a struggle for people that aren't.  The user experience piece is what I expect to have to refine down the road.

I have started running a script on Sunday nights that I am calling a "weekly VIN roundup."  Basically, when a car is built, but sits in some sort of QC hold for an extended period, my daily update script may sort of outrun it and not add it to the site.  This is just because I only have the script go back so many VIN numbers looking for new window stickers during the daily update.  Recently, some Z06's apparently say in a QC hold for 3-4 weeks, so by the time those window stickers were finally released, my script was no longer looking for that VIN range.  So this Sunday night script is just meant to go deeper into the VIN range and scoop up the window stickers for cars in that sort of a situation.  So if you check the site on Monday morning, you will probably see some oddball VINs that were added overnight and have sticker creation dates from a week or so before.

The site passed 100 verified users today.  That's cool.  The average day sees about 250 unique users visit the site.  The site just continues to grow beyond any sort of expectation that I had, so thanks for that.  If none of you were using the site, it really wouldn't be worth spending all this time working on it.  It's actually kind of funny, when the factory closes for a week... the number of daily users drops by about 70% and I start thinking I don't need to upgrade the sites resources.. but once the factory is back open, the site starts getting hammered with users.
